Tree Campus
The PTO is happy to support and celebrate the hard work of our students and staff in earning a special "Tree Campus K-12 School" award from the Arbor Day Foundation.
Being named one of only two Tree Campus’ in the state of Pennsylvania, and the first in Pittsburgh, is the culmination of years of cooperation and efforts from Greenfield school staff and students, Tree Pittsburgh, The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, and Grow Pittsburgh!
Tree Campus Celebration
On October 18, 2022, all students gathered on the field for a special awards ceremony. Among several speakers was eighth grader Sam L., whose speech you may view in this video. (Video posted with student and parental permission.) It was a chilly morning, but the sense of community and appreciation for nature warmed our Gators. More photos of the celebration are below.
Hands-On Learning
Greenfield School staff and students learn from the experts at Tree Pittsburgh how to plant and care for trees. Students get the chance to visit the Tree Pittsburgh facility and help with trees at the school.
