Gator Soccer 2023
Colfax vs. Greenfield (boys) 4.17.23
For the first time in four years, there was interscholastic soccer at Greenfield School this week. Although Cofax won 3-1, the Gators fought hard and the game could have easily went the other way. The score was 0-0 at half, thanks to the unbelievable play of goalkeeper Griffin Dworek. He had 11 saves in the first half alone. Facundo, Kassim, Logan, Ramy, Roy, Brayden, Ayden, Harpreet, Adil, and Yotel helped with great defensive play. The offense was anchored by captain Jonas who along with Sebass (who scored the only goal) and Amjad who played an awesome game. Hats off also to the collaboration of midfielders Jack, Jamier, Cameron, Miles, Spencer, and Max who played hard on the offensive and defensive ends. Go Gators!
Greenfield vs. Obama (girls) 4.18.23
The Greenfield Gators girls soccer team scored a huge victory against Obama 5-4. Mia led the way with four goals! Maymouna added a goal and an assist and also showed great leadership. Jillian, Giada, Amya, and Madison each added an assist. The defense held up, led by Morgan, Renata, Regina, Hailey, and Shaley who kept Obama from tying it up late. Kymari, Arianna, and Madison played great offense and defense at midfield. Peyton played great in goal and had five saves. Mel’jour went in at goalie for the last 15 minutes and made a spectacular save to preserve the win!! Great team win, Gators!
Greenfield vs. UPrep/SciTech (girls)
The Lady Gators defeated UPrep/SciTech 4-0. That makes them 2 and 0 on the season. They were missing goalkeeper Payton, but Meljour stepped up along with Madison, Gianna, and Morgan to get the shut out. The goals were scored by Julian, Madison, and two by Mia. Awesome game, Lady Gators!
Greenfield vs. Arsenal (boys)
The Gators fought the powerhouse Arsenal yesterday to a 4-4 tie. What a great game! Jonah had the hattrick and Jack socred the other goal. Griffin played great in net having over 12 saves. But it was a total team effort. Go Gators!
Greenfield vs. Westinghouse (boys) 5.1.23
The Gators defeated the Westinghouse Bulldogs by the score of 8 to 0. The rain and wind wouldn't deter the Gators who rolled to their first victory of the season. We are now 1-1-1. Special thanks to ballboy Noah who braved the elements to help out the team. Jonah and Amjad both had hattricks in the game, and Sebass and Griffin had goals. Logan and Griffin were both great in net to preserve the shutout. Hats off to the 6 graders who got to play a lot and competed with the bulldogs. They are Oz, Chris, Finn, Cameron, TJ aka Honeybun, Felix, and Damien. The Gators play their away schedule next week UPrep on Monday and Obama on Wednesday. Go Gators!

Game Recaps
Greenfield vs. Sunnyside
After a three-year hiatus, the Greenfield Gators and Lady Gators were back on the court at Sunnyside yesterday. The boys played first and lost a close game by the score of 28-26. Griffin's last second shot (as unorthodox as it was!) almost went in for the win. Brayden led the way with 12 points, all three pointers, and was a force on the boards. Melvin contributed an additional seven points, Griffin and Roy each had three points, and Logan had two points. It was a well-balanced attack, with Harpreet, TJ, and Aiden coming off the bench to contribute, too.
The Lady Gators opened their season with a crushing victory. They won 46 to 1! It was an unbelievable game by Payton Lynch, who not only had 33 points, but also made sure every teammate scored--Madison, Giada, Amaya, Meljour, and Alexis all dropped buckets. It was a great way to start the season.
Go Gators!
Greenfield vs. Sterrett
The Gators came up a little short, but fought hard against a very athletic Sterrett team. Final score was 40-33. The Gators were led by Captain Griffin with 12 points and about 5 blocked shots. Melvin chilpped in an additional 4 points, and Brayden had 5 points and about 10 rebounds. Roy and Logan both played great defense and had a bucket each. The Gators had a guest player...Peyton Lynch who played very well amonst the boys scoring 8 points. The team agreed to let her play since the girls game was cancelled and she played great. Also, hats off to TJ, Harpreet, Ramy, Aiden, Cameron, Abdul, and Christopher who all got in and played great!
Greenfield vs. Colfax
The boys faced the number 1 team in the City and lost. They fought hard and never gave up. This game only had two scorers: Logan and Roy.
The Lady Gators remained undefeated by the score of 30 to 20. IT was a close game until the Gators dug down deep and scored 10 unanswered points in the 4th quarter. Payton played great and foughbt through a physical team, scoring 28 points. Madison "Mad Dog" played unbelievalbe defense, shutting down their #1 player. Amya, Alexis, and Giada played tough underneath the basket, even though the size advantage was noticeable. Meljour played great as point guard controlling the offense.
Greenfield vs. Sunnyside
It was a packed house at Magee to cheer on our Lady Gators and Gators vs. Sunnyside! The Lady Gators completed their goal of an undefeated regular season with a 29 - 9 victory. Payton led the way with 17 points, but got everyone involved. Amya scored 8 points, Meljour and Gianna chipped in with 2 each. Alexi and Madison continued to play great defense to shut down Sunnyside. It looks like the Lady Gators will get the number one seed for the playoffs.
In the second game of the double-header, the boys lost in a hard fought battle 30 to 24. After a tough first half where it seemed like nothing would go their way, the boys rallied in the second half to almost complete a great comeback. Melvin and Griffin led the way with 7 points each, and Jack and Brayden scored 5 each. Logan (who took an elbow to the eye) was a beast underneath. Ray also had to go under to help rebound against the much bigger team. Hats off to Harpreet, Christopher, Ayden, TJ, Cameron, and Abdul. Coach Gallagher couldn't be proudn of their performance. They played as a TEAM!
