Cancer Awareness Month

This year brings a new component to a Greenfield School tradition, as October continues to be a special month at school.

A Note from Ms. Novak

Autumn greetings!

For the last 13 years at Greenfield School we have designated October to be "Pink Month" for breast cancer awareness after the loss of a student's mother to this insidious disease. We have raised at least $1000 every October for the Magee Women's Cancer Institute and have provided quilts for patients going through chemotherapy. We have turned our beloved GREENfield School pink with ribbons, flowers, and banners to remember and honor our loved ones.

THIS year, as we are still in the midst of a pandemic and loss feels all around us -- we would like to have a general Cancer Awareness Month honoring and remembering our loved ones who have courageously faced this disease.

We will be selling different colored ribbons for $1 that represent different types of cancer during the lunch periods on October 5, 6, and 7. Students and staff can buy them and put them on their locker during the month of October.

Also, every Wednesday in October students and staff are asked to wear a color to represent their ribbon too.

Together we will show unity to those in our community who need to feel our support. All proceeds from the ribbon sales will still go the Magee Women's Cancer Institute.

Thanks again for all of your support over the years.

With deepest gratitude,

Ms. Novak
